The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 engines deserve all of the attention they’ve been getting lately. MotorTrend is just one of the many publications who have praised this model’s engine options. The 2.7-liter turbo engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It yields 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque while achieving a highway efficiency of 23 miles per gallon.* GMC also offers a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel inline-six engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain yields 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque while delivering 4-8 more miles per gallon on the highway than the 2.7-liter configuration.

And the Duramax engine endows the 2020 Sierra 1500 with enhanced towing power as well as a more potent response, thanks to the 10-speed automatic and turbodiesel combo. Per MotorTrend, it reached 60 mph 7-percent quicker than the Ram 1500 Rebel EcoDiesel; it also attained this speed 9-percent faster than the Ram when towing a 7,500-pound trailer.

The publication also commented on how quiet the engine was for a Diesel, as well as how smooth and peppy the performance was when MotorTrend staff took it for a test drive. Add on to this the brand’s durable carbon-fiber bed and six-function MultiPro™ tailgate and you get one purposeful truck designed to make any task look easier while giving passengers a smooth, energetic ride quality.

Contrast the 2020 Sierra 1500’s turbo and Duramax engines for yourself when you stop by Freehold Buick GMC for a test drive.
