Thanks to the Buick Achiever’s Scholarship Program, 100 students will be able to pursue their dream career as they receive higher education in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (also known as STEM) fields. Scholarship monies in the amount of $2.5 million were awarded to the deserving students.
In its fourth year, the program selected qualified high school seniors and college undergraduate students to receive a $25,000 scholarship, renewable every year for four years, five for those enrolled in qualifying engineering programs.
This year, 61 percent of the recipients are female and many students are first-generation college students.
“Our Buick Achievers are evolving the face of STEM in that half are the first in their family to attend college, more than half are female and minorities make up the majority,” said Vivian Pickard, GM Foundation president. “These milestones are a positive indication that we’re making great strides to pave the way for our industry’s future leaders and innovators.”
If you missed your chance to apply, check out the Buick Achievers website and stay up-to-date on next year’s application timeline.
