GM Ranks High in 2020 JD Power Sales Satisfaction Index

The 2020 JD Power Sales Satisfaction Index Study, or SSI Study, found that GM brands — including Buick and GMC — performed better than the segment average in terms of customer satisfaction about the vehicle buying process.

The SSI Study seeks to determine whether a brand’s dealerships across the country are likely to have high-quality facilities, a smooth buying process, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. JD Power calculates the Sales Satisfaction Index number on a 1,000-point scale based on customer responses about their experiences when buying a new vehicle.

Buick and GMC were the second and third highest ranked of 20 mass market brands, with 804 and 803 points respectively, putting it well above many competitors.

The survey asks them to rate their satisfaction based on factors such as the delivery process, paperwork, facilities, dealer personnel, and even the dealership website. The SSI looks at both buyers and people who ended up not buying a car from a certain dealership.
