Self-monitoring smartphone apps are continuing to grow in popularity, and Buick is throwing its hat into the ring. The myBuick app has been available for most 2015 and newer Buick models. Now, the automaker is adding Buick Smart Driver functionality to the app so you can track your own habits behind the wheel.
Buick Smart Driver has been available as a web-based service since May 2016. Since the system’s launch, Buick drivers have logged a total of more than 700,000 trips on a daily basis.
Nearly 100,000 drivers have taken part in the Insurance Discounts Eligibility program as a result of the system. With the integration of Buick Smart Driver to the myBuick app, even more owners have the option of enrolling into the service.
“Bringing Buick Smart Driver services into the myBuick app can help our customers become more aware of their driving behaviors and improve as necessary,” said Steve Samolinski, senior manager, Buick Connected Services.
Buick owners who enroll in Buick Smart Driver can work on improving their safe driving practices. Drivers can view statistics, such as their total miles driven, average speed, and average fuel economy in the app. Hard braking and acceleration events are tracked as well. The myBuick app even provides an overall Smart Driver score.
