As winter winds down and the weather begins to get warmer once again, many of us will start our annual spring cleaning routines. This year, consider spring cleaning your car and performing some general upkeep. General maintenance is the most important thing you can do to keep your car running well and looking good, so here are a few spring car care recommendations from us at Freehold Buick GMC.
- Clean the exterior and interior: Salt from winter roads has an abrasive effect on the bottom of your car and your car’s paint job, so you will want to clean it all off. In addition, clear the clutter that has piled up in the cabin of your car, wipe down all the surfaces, and clean the muddy or salt-stained carpets. If you have a winter emergency kit, store it back in the house.
- Check your fluid levels and windshield wiper blades: Once spring hits, check to make sure that your windshield wiper blades are not dried out. If they’re cracked or deteriorated, they will no longer sit snugly against the glass, which will reduce visibility during use. You should also check your oil, windshield wiper fluid and brake fluid levels. These small checks will ensure that your vehicle is ready to go for the spring and summer.
- Check your tire pressure: The changing temperatures between seasons affect your car’s tire pressure. Once it’s warmer outside, simply use a tire pressure valve to check your tires and fill them up as needed.
