Sometimes when the New Year rolls around, people want to try their hand at resolutions but are afraid of failure. We often hear about folks giving up halfway through the year. But when you find the balance between realistic and beneficial, New Year’s resolutions become a fun and empowering way to make positive changes in your life. Here are three recommendations from Freehold Buick GMC of resolutions that will be good and attainable for anyone.
Spend less time watching television
It’s one thing to have your favorite shows that you turn to every week. But when the television is constantly on, it’s easy to turn your attention away from friends and family and pass the time with shows that aren’t even important to you. Ask yourself whether you’re doing any compulsive watching, then eliminate those hours in front of the TV by replacing them with friends, family, or a good book.
Get rid of negativity
There’s absolutely no rule that says you have to keep following that friend from high school who fills your Facebook with negative posts. Do a social media cleanse this New Year and unfollow or mute anyone who fills your screen with negativity.
Put your phone down
Like television, smartphones take up a lot of our attention in today’s world. A few minutes here and there add up to hours each week. Consider restricting yourself to a couple of phone sessions a day when you can check your emails and Instagram, and leave your phone tucked away the rest of the day. You may be surprised at the conversations you have and the things you observe when you’re not always looking at a screen.
From all of us at Freehold Buick GMC, we hope you have a great start to your new year!
