Halloween can be a little stressful for parents whose kids plan on heading out on trick-or-treat night. There’s a lot to do, ranging from costumes to ensuring their safety after the sun sets. Check out these Halloween safety tips to keep your child safe and your mind at ease this coming holiday.
Have Some Emergency Supplies
As long as you keep your children in sight, there’s not a whole lot that can go wrong on trick-or-treat night. Most of the things that can go wrong can be solved with some emergency supplies. A bottle of water can take care of dehydration while glow sticks or reflective strips can help keep your child in sight. Make sure you have your mobile device, too.
Lose the Mask
Masks can be the final piece of most costumes, but they can also cause quite a few problems. Children who wear masks may have problems when it comes to visibility and air flow. Masks can also trap heat. Use face paint or makeup in place of a mask and all of those problems go away.
Schedule Check-In Times
One of the best ways to keep track of kids going trick-or-treating on their own is by scheduling check-in times. Having your child call every hour or so can help put any parent’s mind at ease.
