Thanks to massive sales in China, Buick has sold over 1 million vehicles so far in 2016, and if the trend continues through the rest of the year, the company is on track to set its fourth consecutive global sales record. This is the fastest Buick has ever reached a million sales.
The 2016 Buick sales growth of 23% is the highest in the entire industry for brands selling in both the US and China, and more than 200,000 more customers have bought new Buicks than they had by this time last year. Not only are Buick sales the highest they’ve been in 11 years, the auto brand is currently the second most popular in China.
Buick’s lineup has been selling better than average universally, with the Buick Envision selling twice as quickly as the industry average and the small SUV Encore continues to be Buick’s best-selling vehicle in the US.
Buick’s success is largely driven by its goal in the past few years to rebrand itself and its development of a wide range of luxurious, stylish SUVs and sedans that pack lots of great features at affordable prices. The new 2017 Encore will come standard with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Buick vehicles are also getting their props for safety, with the Envision earning a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the IIHS and the convertible Cascada getting the only 5-Star rating from the NHTSA in its class.
